Andrade Port of Entry

Los Algodones is accessed through the Andrade Port of Entry, located at the California-Baja California border. It is one of the smallest and most walkable border crossings between the US and Mexico, making it perfect for day trips.

Crossing into Mexico

  • Walk across — no car needed. The town is entirely walkable.
  • Crossing into Mexico is fast and simple, usually under 5 minutes.
  • No Mexican visa needed for short visits (under 72 hours within the border zone).
  • Bring your passport or passport card — you will need it to return to the US.

Returning to the US

  • You must go through US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspection.
  • Peak wait times: 30–90 minutes during busy mornings (8–10 AM) in peak season.
  • Best times to cross back: Early morning (before 8 AM) or mid-afternoon (2–4 PM).
  • Have your passport or passport card ready.
  • Declare any purchases, medications, or food items.

Parking on the US Side

  • Several parking lots are available in Andrade, CA, right next to the border crossing.
  • Cost: $7–$10 USD per day (cash recommended).
  • Lots are safe and monitored. Some offer covered parking.
  • Arrive early during peak season for the best spots.

Tips for a Smooth Crossing

  1. Bring your passport or passport card — no exceptions.
  2. Wear comfortable walking shoes — you'll be on foot all day.
