How to Cross the Border to Los Algodones: Step by Step
February 04, 2026
Getting to the Border
From Yuma, take Interstate 8 west and exit at the Andrade/Los Algodones turnoff. Follow signs to the border. The drive is about 15 minutes.
Parking
There are several paid parking lots on the US side, right before the border. Expect to pay $5-$8 for the day. We recommend arriving early (before 9 AM) for the best spots.
Walking Across
The pedestrian crossing is simple. Show your passport to US customs when leaving, then walk through the turnstile into Mexico. No Mexican visa needed for visits under 72 hours within the border zone.
Returning to the US
On your way back, you will go through US Customs. Have your passport ready. Wait times vary: early morning and late afternoon are usually quickest.
